We have been nominated for a Sunshine Award!

Void RPG, another indie-game developer’s blog, has nominated us for a Sunshine Award! Thanks guys!!!

So, the rules of this award are the following:

Here we go, folks!

Ten Facts:

1) Justin and I, as you may have gathered, are a husband-and-wife team. We’ll be married for two years in March. The Lotus War is our first joint creative venture.

2) Justin goes by “The Arc Bird” when creating music.

3) I was in Band from 6th grade to graduation, Debate Club, Philosophy Club, Comix and Animation Club, and played along with my friends at Chess Club. I also went to Space Camp, Alabama in the summer after 7th grade. Justin was in Theater. I think that’s it. (Yes, I’m the bigger nerd. For sure. By far. He doesn’t even consider Star Wars a good snow-day movie.)

4) I’m from Los Angeles county in California. I moved to Connecticut in 2009 after deciding that the East Coast is more my style. (For anyone outside of the US: Connecticut is on the opposite coast. Like, as far as you can go)

5) Justin reads Pitchfork regularly.

6) Initial D is one of my favorite anime. Others include Record of Lodoss War, Cowboy Bebop, and Robotech.

7) Metal Gear is Justin’s favorite video game series.

8) The first RPG I’ve ever finished (besides for Pokemon Blue, actually, when I think about it…) was Knights of the Old Republic – finished it over the course of 1 week during Spring Break of 9th grade after borrowing the game and an X-Box from a friend. I had tried to play others, but my mom thought video games were for boys, and my brothers wouldn’t let me play theirs – or, as was the case with Ocarina of Time, would delete my games as they pleased.

9) I read The Hobbit when I was in 4th grade. I think that was my first, real, adult-length novel ever.

10) Justin really likes Army of Darkness. I don’t know, man…. something about that Bruce Campbell…

My Nominees:

1). The Otaku Judge writes lots of good anime/manga/video game reviews, going in depth about not just the story but the reasons why they particularly appealed or didn’t appeal. Anyone looking for good references can go to him. Also, he ALWAYS comments back. Always. Like a good blogger should 😉

2) The Start Button is a cool guy who will keep you up-to-date on Pokemon and all sorts of other fun stuff. He was one of The Lotus War’s first followers, and he just seems like genuinely a good guy.

3) What’s Your Tag are a couple of entertaining guys, with cool web comics that offer an easy read with interesting insights.

4) Mille Ho is a neo-noir writer and book cover illustrator. She’s very talented, super nice, and posts great-looking illustrations and tips.

5) I don’t know how I got this far in the list without naming Holders Animated Battlers, who offers free sprites and templates for any RPG Maker user, even if that user wishes to commercialize (read: make money) their game. Definitely one of my favorite and most-visited WordPress blogs, and seems just really decent and generous. Holder has tutorials, character portraits, and offers all of it for free, asking only that the credits remain as written.

6) Alpha Revolver Games – another indie game development blog. As a team working on a venture of our own, it’s really nice to read about the progress of others. Keep it up, guys!

7) After Dark Gaming isn’t one of those reviewers that will just keep pumping out articles without ever responding or commenting on your work. He’s a cool guy that writes trustworthy reviews – as well as other noteworthy reads.

8) Virtually Riki posts a lot of her really incredible projects from several different media, and overall strikes me as really sweet 🙂

9) The Mighty Viking Hamster is a good read for any lover of video games. Astute and entertaining – I mean, the name and logo say it all!

10) Geek Force Network, like many of the blogs I follow, discusses video games, anime, comics… you see where I’m going with this. A consortium of Geek writers, its topics are broad, its writing varied, always keeping it interesting.

And I think that’s it! Sorry to any that I couldn’t list, and any whom I did: note that the list wasn’t in any particular order, but by who I remembered first 🙂
